Bob & Sallie Connelly will conduct an Auction of the Estate of Virginia Bradley on-site at 26 Onondaga Street, Skaneateles, NY 13152-2306 on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 10:00 am with a preview at 9:00 am. The Bradleys were avid collectors active from the late 1930's through the 1950's.
The auction includes furniture, accessories, fabrics and linens, clocks and watches, stoneware, oriental rugs, artwork, pottery and glassware, toys and dolls, vintage and contemporary tools, miscellaneous items, an automobile, and vintage posters.
Some notable items are an elaborately carved mahogany Partner's Desk by R.J. Horner & Co. with Northwind faces, large gargoyles and claw feet; half-plate and quarter-plate Daguerreotypes, and quarter-plate Ambrotypes; an oil on canvas Winter Scene by Frank A. Barney (1862-1954) and an oil painting by Fernando A. Carter (1855-1931), dated 1917, in elaborate frame; 19th and early 20th century dolls, and Walt Disney marionettes from Alice in Wonderland including Alice, the Mad Hatter and Rabbit; and fifteen posters, circa 1920-1939.
